Butler Farms Marsh

Today Tommy took the boys and Millie to the marsh

We used to take our kids ice skating on it.

Not thick enough yet.

Sunday we are supposed to get snow.

I am looking forward to snow.

We really haven't had much this winter.

Antiques and Hooked Rugs Rug

There is nothing better to me than antiques and hooked rugs.

This is a adaption of an antique rug.

It is a gloomy gray day here.

Trying to stay busy. I have been cleaning every drawer.

Kitchen cabinets and will start getting rid of clutter.

Last year during Lent, I filled up a garbage bag every day

with stuff I want anymore. Donated a lot.

Choosing Dahlias

I LOVE Dahlias! The flowers are beautiful.

These are some of the ones I grew last summer.

Just got a Dahlia catalogue, choosing which ones

I'm going to order.
Love these colors. The Pom Pom last in arrangements.

I am going to get more of those in different colors.

The only drawback is you have to dig them up in the fall.

They won't make it through the winter and will freeze.

It's fun digging them up and seeing how the tubers multiply.

A Favorite Flower

A couple of years ago I bought a bouquet of these flowers.

I fell in love, they look like roses.

The name of them are Linanthus.

The colors are so soft.
Almost every bud opens up.

Everyone says they are very hard to grow from seed.

This past spring I found them at

an Amish greenhouse.

She buys the plugs and starts them that way.

I had very good luck growing them.

So this spring I am going to plant lots of them.

Patriotic Rugs

Love hooking Patriotic rugs.

It's easy picking colors.

Red, White, and blue!

I've always loved this one.

Susan Hart is the designer of this one.

Checking the Heifers

The boys love to go to the heifer barn.

We've been taking them since they were babies.

Both are typical brothers.

Getting along, then all of a sudden arguing.

Two little ornery kids, love them.

Flowers Last Summer 2020

Today the sun is shining! Love it!

It still amazes me every winter when I look back

at summer pictures.  There's green grass and colorful flowers in the pictures.

Then I look outside and all I see is brown. I would rather see snow.

My sister gave me the bird house.

I really like it, my son in law and daughter helped me put it up.

I want to do something different next spring.
Our huge Maple tree died in the front yard.
The tree created a lot of shade in the summer.
I can plant more flowers that take sun now.
Enjoy today!

Hearts

This a rug I hooked a couple years ago.
since Valentine's Day is coming
I would like to hook something with hearts.
And without words. I like both.

Have a good evening!

Bee Skep Rug

I hooked this rug for one of our friends that has bee hives.
We grow lots of flowers for pollinators. I love watching the
bees and butterflies. Having bee hives aren't for me though.
I'll buy honey from my friends.

Spring Gardening Catalogs

I have been receiving seed and flower catalogs
in the mail. The older I get the more selective I am
about the plants I choose.
There are some plants I wouldn't get
even if they were free.
When I first started gardening
I wanted anything and everything
to plant in my gardens.
It must be part of the process of learning how
to garden.
Have a great day!

Primitive Hooked Rugs

4 days into 2021, taking one day at a time
Last year at this time, thought 2020 would
be a new beginning. So, I'm ready for whatever. LOL!
I love hooking cabins. It is because of the logs and chinking.
This is my design

This is an antique rug, my version.
The sky is a little gray here, but
I think the sun will come out later!

Now We Have 2

Finn has a little brother, Bo. Finn is 4 and Bo is 2.
They live down the road, so I get to see them a lot.
                                                              They keep everyone busy.

Lindsay and Andrew moved back from Iowa.
They are having a house built across the road from us.
It's not finished yet but, they are getting close.

My son Danny lives on the other side of the pasture.
This is his new dog, she's sweet.
We have a lot to be thankful for!
