Christmas is getting closer... Last week I learned to make wool trees. Alot of you have been asking about directions. If you haven't went to this blog she has instructions. These are the trees we made. Rhonda's on the far left, mine in the middle, Becky's on the far right. I like them all.

Wool Feather Trees

This week I learned how to make wool feather trees. I got together with a couple of my friends, Rhonda and Becky (missed you Stacie). I didn't know that it took 4 hours to complete a small one. It took 4 hours but, it was completely finished though. I told them I wouldn't make another one. Well, this is the second one I've made. I bought this Santa from Arnett's and the bigger tree looks better with it than the smaller one.
This is the first one I made. Both are made from wool that I hand dyed. The snow man is from Arnett's also.

Friday was an awful day for our country. My thoughts and prayers are with everyone at Sandy Hook Elementary School. Feel so bad for the kids, teachers and their families. I feel really bad for all the people who have to investigate the scene... AWFUL!!! It is unreal. God Bless them all!!

Turkey Time????

Good Morning! It's a another beautiful day in Ohio. I think we are going to pay for it in a couple days though.

No more puppies! We took Maddie in to get her spayed Tuesday morning. I picked her up yesterday morning, she's doing well. We found a wonderful home for Makena. Clint and Jessica, Clint has been friends with my son since they were babies. They are expecting a baby in January and just bought a new home.

I just finished this turkey rug for Sharon. It is a design from an out-of-print booklet from Notforgotten Farm. Spruce Ridge Studios has the design though. Time is flying,as usual, can't believe this next month is Thanksgiving.

Last Cutting of Hay

It was so pretty out today. Our tree is dropping it's leaves fast. I'm hoping for some windy days so, I don't have to do alot of leaf raking.
The guys were harvesting our last cutting of hay. Grady and Maddie were watching.
I've been busy trying to keep up with 2 puppies. The puppy on the right is the one we are keeping, Grady. The puppy on the left is going to a good home this weekend. I'm probably going to cry when they pick her up. She is the sweetest. I am almost done hooking a pilgrim rug. Until next time...

The Rural Society Antique and Garden Show

On Friday, I attended The Rural Society Antique and Garden Show. I had never heard about it but, saw it on Facebook. My friend, Chris, went with me. The farm wasn't that far for us to travel, about 20 minutes to Mt. Vernon, Ohio. These barns are what we saw in line waiting for the show to start. We were really surprised when we saw what was behind the barns.
Maybe you will recognize the farm it was in Country Living Magazine.
Aren't the nesting boxes great?
There were vendors around the back of the barn and under the bank barn. There were lots of great vendors.
The greenhouse
We had a piece of raspberry white cake, it was really good. Her cakes were displayed so nice.
This is their house, outdoor eating area.
I can't wait to go to the next show in May!

Black Pumpkin and A Black Cat

I'm settling into the fact that it is September. I do like the cooler weather of fall, it's what comes after. I won't think about it. Ha! Anyways, I bought this pattern at a hookin this year. It is a design by Maria Barton-Star Rug Company. I have always admired the same rug that Lori Rippey has in her home. It was fun to hook.
Our cat, Lou, has been setting boundaries with our new puppy, Grady. Lou rules the roost around here. Our Golden Retrievers are scared of him. I had to take a picture, he didn't like it. Have a great day!

September

We are getting rain and lots of it. Last night Tom checked the rain gauge and we had more rain last night then the entire summer. Hurricanes usually are drought busters!! I finished this rug last night. The design is out of one of Tonya Robey-Madhen Primitives little booklets. I have been waiting to use a dyed piece of wool that I dyed awhile back. It worked out perfectly for this rug. Enjoy the rest of the weekend! Julie

Autumn Rug

I'm getting in the mood to decorate for fall. I usually don't plant mums but, this year I will since all of my impatiens died. They got Downy mold and the drought took a toll on alot of my other flowers.I'm looking forward to next year. My tomatoes did well though! I want to publicly apologize to my Golden Retriever, Maddie. I thought she was killing my chickens and it wasn't her. It was a possum. Hope to get more rugs hooked. I did finish this one today. It is a Buttermilk Basin pattern, it measures 10.5"x 21". I hooked another one like this but, this is a new design. I got some other patterns of hers also. Love her designs. Hope everyone has a great week!

Witch Rug, Chickens and Puppies

Friday... that was fast!! I have been REALLY busy this week around Butler Farms- that is for sure! I did finish this rug. It is in one of Lori Brechlin's Not Forgotten Farms OOP booklets. This is a design I have wanted to hook. There's a few more that I've never hooked in some other booklets.
The chickens.... that isn't going so well. We have decided we cannot have free range chickens here on Butler Farms. Maddie has never bothered the chickens till she had puppies. Last night they came up on my porch and roosted.
I registered the puppies online thru AKC, just waiting for the papers in the mail. They are so fun. They will be 7 weeks Sunday. Some one picked one out last night and we painted his toe nails with polish-he looks pretty HA!! Hope everyone has a great weekend!! Julie

Hope everyone is having a good weekend! My weekends are busy with family. The puppies will be 5 weeks old tommorrow. They keep me very busy. We did get 1/2" of rain yesterday, we're very thankful for that! It has looked like rain all day today, at least it isn't beating sun and 95. I hooked another rug by Mad Hen Primitives, I have several books. So keep watching for more designs. This one isn't that big. It is for sale. I hope to get some gardening pictures on here. Kingwood Hookin Part 2

Here are some more rugs from last weekend's hookin at Kingwood. The rug challenge this year was Fall theme. This little pumpkin rug was an entry. The colors were great! I missed alot of the fall rugs because some hookers had already left with their rugs by the time I got a chance to take pictures.
Everyone voted and this one was the winner. It was beautiful!
Love these hooked flowers
This rug rug was hooked by Katie Allman. She had it framed and it is really a beautiful rug. It is a Nola Heidbreder design.
This rug is a Star Rug Company design hooked by Lauren-Rugs and Pugs. Love the colors she used.
Lauren's proddy rug.
Another rug hooked by Lauren
This rug was really nice also. Hope everyone is staying cool. A storm came through here about an hour ago,so glad we didn't get hail. Hope everyone has a great weekend!
