My brother who is a finished carpenter and has worked on many beautiful homes on the Pensacola ocean shoreline now lives in North Carolina and has salvaged a few small barns and an old house ( flooring / roof ). He has made many, many, beautiful period pieces. No painting just oiled to show the 100 plus years of age beautiful grained wood. He has made me two beautiful china cabinets, a TV console and in the process of a few more pieces. One of the barns had fallen in a nearby stream and yet re-salvaged. It is a shame some of these barns were let go but with people like my brother who re-purpose these older pieces of wood have a story to tell and I am very happy to have their voices in my home.
Great salvage !
ReplyDeleteI hope you will have something made from the wood!

Morning, wonderful old barn wood, blessings Francine.
ReplyDeleteHow SAD to tear down an old barn rather than PRESERVE it....another piece of history gone forever. They can never be replaced....
ReplyDeleteThis is so exciting though!
