Gardening Rug

Good evening! It is back to a normal spring around here- for this week anyways. I sure have alot to do outside. This is the latest rug I've finished. It is a great design by Country Stitches. I really like the way it turned out. I'm going to list it on Ebay tonight. Have a great evening!

A Windy Monday

This past weekend I went to Walnut Creek for a hook in. There was lots of beautiful wool and lots of rug patterns. Love seeing the rugs that other hookers brought for the show. I didn't bring an because I let a little early, it was the OSU spring football game. Had to get back to watch. This first rug was one of my favorites, I really need to hook a rug like this to get rid of all my extra strips. It was hooked by Marlene who works at Country Craft Cupboard. She also has a line of patterns she has designed.
This one was hooked by Melanie, Marlene's sister. She said she used cookie cutters and designed around the shapes.

The Ohio rug was beautiful.

Friday Finish

This week flew by as usual! Friday the 13th is going well for me and the weather is beautiful. After I finish this I'm headed outside to mow, think they are calling for rain tommorrow. I'm going to the Black Cat Primitives Show tommorrow, it's inside. A couple weeks ago I ordered this pattern from Lori Brechlin-Notforgotten Farms. I LOVE it!! I was thinking of just keeping this one but, I have enough wool to make another one. I did list it on Ebay. Hope everyone has a great weekend-I plan on having a great weekend!! until next time.... Happy Easter

Happy Easter! The weather was so nice today, if it wasn't so windy we could of eaten Easter dinner outside. We went to my mom and dad's, the food was so good as always. I can't believe how fast my chicks have grown. I haven't had them for a week and they have doubled in size. They are so cute and getting their feathers. We have 24 chicks- all females, I haven't decided if I want to get a rooster. I do love the sound of roosters. I'm giving a few of them to a friend. I really like collecting eggs. Last summer I baked alot of Angel Food Cakes.
My husband has put in 130 acres of oats. We will chop it for the heifers. Even though there is so much to do, Spring is my favorite time of the year!! Until next time... Julie

Making Bee Skeps

Yesterday, my friend Chris and I got together and made bee skeps. We have been talking about making them for months. This is a picture of mine. We made them in Chris's garage, hopefully they have dried enough to bring it home today.
We used cement with no gravel, straw, peat moss and vermiculite. 1 part Portland cement(or cement with no gravel) 1½ parts peat 1½ parts vermiculite straw few handfuls cut up
Mixed it all up by hand, which took ALOT of muscle.
Chris used the cone and I used a base from a bird bath. We covered them with plastic and I sprayed with canola oil.
This is Chris's. This is the first time we've made bee skeps. We have made hypertufia planters before and they have stayed together. Now I want to make more!! Until next time.... Julie

Spring Days

I'm loving these beautiful spring days! This is my favorite time of the year. On the colder days I have been hooking. This is a order that I hooked, I think it turned out great. It is the same pattern by Primitive Pieces by Lynda. I'm hoping she likes it. I got my little chicks yesterday, they are adorable. Wish some could stay tiny, they grow so fast. Can't wait for the fresh eggs. Hope everyone enjoys your day! Julie
